There’s no centralized location that serves the entire MENA region, and if you don’t get the entire MENA region then the player base would be too small.Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. Plus, infrastructure in the region is garbage. Putting it in Jeddah would be best, but folks in Morocco would still have better ping to EUW and people from the eastern region would have 60-70 ping. Well, that’s good for people on the eastern part of the Arab Peninsula, but people in Jeddah/Makkah/Egypt/Levant region/Algeria would have the same ping to that server as they would to EUW. Let’s say they put it in Dubai/Bahrain/Qatar. New arab players would gravitate towards the MENA server and eventually discover that it’s trash and they’re better off on EUW.Īlso, where would they put the server? Most folks in North Africa have ~50-60 ping to EUW, which isn’t too bad, so putting it there achieves nothing for people playing from the gulf states with 100-150 ping. Most high elo EUNE players play on EUW.Īll a MENA server would do is splinter the player base for NEW PLAYERS only.
Most high elo turkish players play on EUW. I’d rather play on EUW with 100 ping but better more competitive games, than on a MENA server with 12 ping but everyone’s trash. I made my first “please Riot open a middle eastern server” post all the way back in 2011 on the old General Discussion forums.įirstly, most people who are competitive would not play on a middle eastern server (or would not play seriously). Riot either doesn’t see profit in it, or there is some technical difficulty that makes it not feasible.
